More information is needed. What kind of filter? How much media? How big is the pond? What is stocked in it?

You're definitely going to need some kind of filtration. The pool filter on it will not work because it is designed to filter chlorinated water. It will clog if your use it for the pond. From the photos it looks like this was never a pond but a swimming pool. Pond filters have to run 24/7 so find high efficient koi pond pumps. There are many available on the market. There are many options as far as filters. You can pick from settlement chambers, barrel filters, bead filters and sumps. I highly recommend a UV on top of a good filter.
Search my pond builds or check out koiphen website.

Hook it up to a aquaponic growbed, you live in a perfect climate for growing tropicals....

Member duanes may be a good resource. He is very knowledgable in this area.

thank you. I was thinking of having a pump bring water up to a grow bed then it drains down to a barrel of media and lava rock. might even add a moving bed chamber. I'm not sure on the gallons this pond is but ill probably be running two large pumps into the bed.

I personally load my first grow bed with red/black cinder, which gravity feeds into two more growbeds which have no media(just plantings); then returns to reservoir. My growbeds are about 250g(totaling 750g) filtering a heavily stocked 2000g reservoir.....If I had to guess the gallonage of yours, I would say 3000g+ or so....
