I am prepairing for anything mother nature has got this year i am setting up my ponds in a 6' chain link fenced in area under a 10' x 20' tent with a guard dog.:headbang2 I have had problems in the past with small predators bullfrog's snake's and small opossum but the dog has kept out the big ones ducks, racoons etc..The biggest problem i have had in the past is flooding i have a drainage canal in my backyard that drains out 2 large neiborhoods and floods my backyard when we get big summer time downpoors but usually no more than 6" not a big deal evan when i used the inflateabel kidy pools. However when a named storm comes along it is dangerous and the flood water can go as deep as 4' in the pond area:WHOA: i have had to come home from work and save the fish from rising flood water it's not fun:cry: .So to ease my worries of this extreme problem i am building 4'd x 4'w x 8'l temporary above ground pond to grow out my devil fry:naughty: .These are old concrete forms for pouring solid walls i just put some new 1/4" plywood on them the forms themselves are 4"x4" with various lengths of 5/8" lag bolts holding them together the plan is to add 2 or 3 " of sand to the bottom and add a liner and water + fish and bang monster pond that will be able to handle all but the most extreme flood conditions. The tent is a good for keeping out small critters and debris it also helps regulate the hot summer temps here and prevents direct sunlight on the ponds keeping algea growth to a minimum i will also have 2 smaller ponds in there as well. These 2 ponds are the formed inground type but i just use some concrete blocks and bricks and brace them up i know it sounds and looks redneck but it works.:naughty: I took a few pics putting it together it still has a long way to go but i will keep this thread updated as i work on my pond fort as the work roles along.:grinno:

The above pic is the drainage canal i was talking about it is only 1' deep now but with a major storm it is a raging river white caps and everything no b.s. it is only about25 feet from my ponds.:naughty:

your serious about the tent and dog arent you?        :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2 :banhim:

sounds/looks good! you should contact your city and tell them your problem and they should send out someone to see it and them put up a wall to block out the water, thats what happened with one of my moms neighbores in alabama...but they didnt have a pond, it was a flower garden that got flooded:screwy:

You might be a Red Neck if....... Who cares. As long as the neighbors and your significant other doesn't mind what it looks like go for it. If it works and is not broken......

do you have any idea how much water those two preforms hold?
