Letterly WILD as to were the fish changed color over time ( many breeding's) from traditional gold/red to BLACK or blackish red/gold ..... some large adult's are blackish gold , some solid black ... the fish range in size from 9'' down to fry.. yes fry are in this pond...

Is this possible for a pond built year's (15 or more yr's) ago to evolve like this...

the women who's husband built the pond ( he passed over the winter ) said at one poiont 72 to about 100 fish were in this pond..

quick quess at size of pond would be 40 foot , circular shape ..

These are koi? Depending on broodstock it is possible.

If I'm understanding you right... the fish originally put in the pond were orange godfish? Over the years, it's likely that the brighter fish were picked off by predators (birds, ect) leaving the darker, more drab fish to survive in the pond. Same reason that most wild fish have less vivid colors than their captive counterparts that we breed for color.

no not koi.. I wish , just regular goldfish the reason I think it's gone wild is there are large adult's bright colored and as you then notice the smaller one's they get darker as they get smaller as if generatiion after generation develope blacker and blacker... :screwy:

I know goldfish can change colors a lot. I have had black goldfish go to white or orange or black and orange. I have had some that were orange and turned black and what not. I have alos had some black golfish that developed a green sheen to them.

What happend is he propably through a bunch of feeder goldfish in there and the all just end up different colors.

My uncle has goldfish breed in his pond. He just bought feeders and quarintined them and tossed them in the pond. Now they are big enough to breed and when you see the goldfish fry that survive they are all different colors.
