pond lighting

i'm just about finished my indoor pond and the back room...im just wondering do i need a light above the pond, im not really into any plants in the pond more so round it.

I'm guessing the light coming in will be plenty to grow "houseplant" type plants. Is that what you're saying by "around it?" As for viewing the pond, we use the track lighting that you can install yourself from Home Depot. It works well and is easy to install. Also, you can angle the lights to make sure you see more of the pond.

You don't really need any light above it for your fish to be happy, the light from the windows would be fine for them. I just put a striplight from the ceiling over my pond. So that way I could see them that much better.
