I recently built a 239 gallon aquarium and used Bondo fibreglass resin. I had all kinds of problems once I started to use black tint into the resin and tried many different variations of mixing etc but still had issues with splotching and sticky spots that just seemed not to cure properly.

Frustrated, I then sanded down the inside and used 3 coats of liquid rubber over top of the resin. Seemed fine and after curing the rubber coating for over a week, I added fish but they started dropping off one by one. I drained the tank and found that the resin leached thru the rubber coating.

My question is....should I add 4-5 coats more of the fish safe liquid rubber and hope the resin does not leach thru or should I go with a pond liner????

Do you use anything for the pond liner (glue, silicone etc)?????
thanks

Pondliner will work just fine....Theres only a select few types of silicone that will adhere to the liner tho and regular silicone will not work for long. 3m5200 marine silicone for boats is proven to work as well as Hutton products Gold Label Aquarium and pond sealer. I used Gold Label for my build and its been holding going on 5 years now. Gold label is expensive and hard to find, I had to special order mine at a local pond shop. 3m5200 is a bit cheaper and more available online.
