Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to ask... if not MODs please move it.

Anyways, :nilly: I'm planning to do a 10'x4'x4' pond and I'm not sure how to calculate how much pond lining I would need and I was just wondering who would know. Thanks!

well your going to need a liner at least 18 feet long, 10 + 4 + 4 = 18' and then at least 12 feet wide, 4 + 4 + 4 = 12'. If you dont know where I got these numbers you shouldnt be building a pond.

Haha good point uncwnells.when I build a pond and iv bulit a few all using liner I do what uncwnells did and add a foot for ataching it to the rim its pretty simple look up diy pond on the net is it goin in the ground or wood frame? Either way you the mathe is the same good luck on the build.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes its my first time doing it so I have no clue... I better start reading some more.

@gunther28: Its gonna be in the ground.

Typically the cheapest way to buy them is in even 5' increments like 15x20.

I would recommend doing the planning and building first so you are not stuck forming everything around the liner dimensions. Getting the liner only takes a couple days once you order it, a quality build takes much longer. For the few extra bucks EPDM is worth it over PVC also.

Thanks for the recommendation. Like I said above... just planning to.
I'm also looking at the 20'x20' Firestone 45mm EPDM liner for $176, is that a good price?

Well I'm planning to have my kois in there.

there is a calculator online at justliners.com that I've used in the past. Just pick the shape of your pond and plug the LxWxD in and it will select the appropriate liner sizing for you. Hope this helps.
