I am going to be building a pond in my basement. I am going to be building it with cinder blocks and then using surface bonding cement. I wanted to know if I should use pond armor or should I put insulation on the bottom and sides and then underlayment and liner. I think the liner way would work better to keep heat in but the pond armor might hold up better. Just wanted to get some other opinions.

What I would do is buy 1 inch styrofome sheets and lay them down on the floor and the sides of the cinder block and then use a 45 or 60 mil liner. It wouldn't hurt to have a pond underlayment, but it certainly is not needed

Why would paint outlast a liner? If your using a window use paint, no window liner all the way

IMO if you keep rubbing paint it will eventually wear off, where as with a pond liner you have alot of rubber to go through. Pond liner is pretty good these days, some garantee against ripping/puncture
