Throw reality out the door. If you could house an indoor pond say anywhere from 6feet to 10feet in diameter. Would you prefer it over a glass tank?

Most of the time I prefer seeing fish from the side vs. just from the top... and fish tend to hide more when viewed from above. But I would still go with the pond idea so they could grow faster and bigger (more room of course).

In reality, indoor, it's a glass tank for me.

I'm basically comparing a 2,000 gallon pond to a 200 gallon glass tank.

why not a 2,000 gallond pond with a viewing window....

Hmmm... sounds nice. I would like that too but I guess the main point of this thread is would you give up viewing the fish from the side to give them a bigger swimming space.

Some fish yes I certainly would. I have a soft spot for Oscars and would like to set up a pond so whenever I see one crammed in a little tank at a lfs I can take it home. They'd spend enough time looking up at me that a window wouldn't be necessary. My bichirs ion the other hand would never bee seen from above so they will stay in a tank.
