Hi everyone,

I feel good coz the wife allowed me to have a big tank. Now here are my options: Inside the house: approx. 180g (L 7 ft x W 30 in x H 24 in) at the most, outside: above ground pond with glass window approx. 599g (L 8 ft x W 4 ft x H 30 in). I have a 6 ft L x 20 in H x 3/8 in thick piece of used aquarium glass. My concern is the temp outside might give me an algae problem even in indirect sunlight. Will erect a canopy over it. Stock would be 2 oscars, 1 sev, 1 GT, 1 clown knife.

Questions:

1. How can I control the algae in a pond?
2. What kind of filtration will I be needing for the pond?
3. Will it be hard to clean the bottom of the pond if I make it deeper than
30 in?
4. How long will it take to cycle for a pond this size?

The pond will be built out of plywood/lumber/pond liner. Will research more on how to seal the glass window to pond liner. Still in the planning stage I'm not rushing coz I want to build this the right way. I will gather as much info as I could before starting this project. This is not going to be spectacular just to give my fishes a good home. Thank you.

Check the pond forum. Lots of ideas and filtration there.

Thanks for your input Redear, tropical climate here 76F-86F. Might go for pond because of the clown knife. Suggestions are coming along nicely thanks all.
