Pond plants

Good afternoon all,
I don't have a single plant in my pond, the larger carp 20" + just keep on up ending the pots. I have tried protecting them with nets and weighting with large pebbles etc but to no avail - any ideas??

20" is a big task to keep him away from plants....

Seriously, heavier rocks, larger pot and plastic screen around the base of the plant.
