Alright, I'm thinking about making an indoor pond out of a stock tank or something, and I was thinking about stocking it with a single stingray and a handful of other fish. What's the best species for someone who's starting out with rays? What kinds of fish can it be housed with? Thanks in advance for the help!

That's the thing-I have no idea! I'm thinking about just buying a stock tank from a feed store or something. But I really have no idea how to make an indoor pond-what kind of filtration, heating, and lighting an indoor pond would need. If you could give me some pointers and links, that would be great. I'm going to research the different kinds of fish available, and base my choice of tank size around that. But back to one of my original questions-what kind of stingray is generally considered a "beginner's" ray?

Although a 300 gallon stock tank would be efficient, you might get more bang for your buck if you build your own plywood pond. Check out the DIY forum on here. You could always start a thread and ask for information as well as advice.

Motoros generally are recommended to beginners for a number of reasons. They are hardy, relatively inexpensive and generally accept a variety of foods. They can get very large so you would need a large aquarium to house them long term.

I believe Florencebigfish has two captive bred pups available at the moment.

Here is the thread on their ray Batgirl. You can see the other two pups in with her.
