is there any thing that i have to do to my basement to protect it from the humidity of an indoor pond? bascially all of my fish tanks are down here so im not worried about it being too cold. but will the coolness help on keeping the humidity down? can there be any "water damage" from high humidity other than mold growth?
PLEASE help, i really want a pond!

I know this isn't what you (or anyone who wants an indoor pond) want to hear, but you'll probably need a cover for your pond. Even at room temp I was loosing about 5 gallons every 2 days just from evaporation. And it didn't build up in the basement... it went up to the skylight windows upstairs (I have a drywall job coming up soon becuase of this). Or you could use an air exchanger, but it will cost you.

ok i know this is a TOTALLY OLD AZZ THREAD:WHOA:..... but if anyone can tell me what an air exchanger is? please?:)

living in Calgary, alberta I am going to welcome a little bit of humidity in my house. it is so dry here. hopefully a dehumidifier will only have to work a little bit. I will find out by the end of the summer. I will have 35 square feet of surface water with a little water fall.
