went out and fooled with the pond for the first time since fall... its definitely time to redo the whole thing. Gunna get rid of all the koi and goldfish, just no personality there. Found a bunch of green sunfish I threw in last year all still thriving but dont wanna risk them killing anything else I put in. Current plan is 2 connected 150G (roughly) sections each with a different colony of african cichlids. Still working out the logistics of it but trying to connect 2 other 40G sections also. Soon as I begin pics will follow. If anyone else has tryed african cichlids in thier outdoor pond and have any suggestions they would be much appriciated.

If they are just for growout, just throw them in a rubbermaid for the summer.

Long term, the ponds you have, and plan on getting, could only do some dwarf Mbuna or Julies.

Heating is a whole other story....

the pond would just be housing for spring-fall and winter them inside. Also how is 150G not big enough for some psuedotropheus? Planning 1-2 males and 6-8 females

koi and goldfish dont have personality so you are going to go with african cichlids:screwy::screwy::screwy:

If the ponds are for summer growout, go with some big Haps, Vics, or Fronts. Pseudos. are OK, but if your breeding why not get something for your efforts. The colors natural ponds give fish are amazing. Some Flamebacks would look awesome by the fall and could fetch some money from a LFS not just store credit.

yeah only reason I had decided on pseudos. is because both males and females had color and because they had different colors.
