Hey guys i am building about a 9x10 pond and the avg depth is 18 and at the deepest its 30 what size pond liner could i get away with for this build thanks

why use a liner why not just build a pond out of fiberglass it might be a little less cost effective but in the end it would be much more weather resistant and would probly last longer

What are you going to put in the pond? Koi? Goldfish? Are you going to drain it over the winter? I live in Canada so you know what my winters are like. I bubble the ponds to keep an air hole open that allows the pond to breathe and release toxins(decaying matter). In the summer I use a swimming pool filter for a continuous flow between the ponds and I have it set up for a couple of water falls as well. If I knew how to post a pic here I would. Hope this helps.
Make sure that you have 2' extra for the outside edge it will settle. Also take into consideration the type of soil you are putting the liner over, if it is rocky you may need to put some felt under the liner to protect it from becoming punctured. So take the Length add 4' and add the depth x2 as well.
Do the same for the Width,

You could probably get away with a 15'x20' liner, although you wouldn't have much room for error. A 20'x20' liner would probably give you plenty of extra around the edges for insurance.

You really need to dig it as deep as possible and as big as possible. Because if you have Koi they will grow huge. After 6 years mine are already at 24-27" which means I either have to get rid of at least five this year or add on another filter which is really my plan...lol... cause they are all like puppies to me and hard to get rid if. If I don't mother nature will take care of it and then it will be my favorite...its always the favorite that goes. Course thats for Koi....goldfish will do fine in that depth but I wouldn't do any shelves if you are in a place that herons are common cause they will simply walk in and help themselves to all your fish in one sitting unless you net it.

Max. length + (max. depth x 2)

Max. width + (max. depth x 2)

You could then add another foot or so for slack.
