can i use pond stress coat in an aquarium with african cichlids and if i do will it effect my fish ?

As long as you dose it correctly I have never had a problem using pond de-chlor...

pond products are fine for normal tanks, the reason they call it pond is normal because its more concentrated to give a higher bang over a higher vol of water, as aquarium ones are made for lower amounts of water there for reduced in strength to allow for easier dosing.
