Just in the process of de-wintering the garden. The patio slabs are getting pressure washed(they do look a state in this) and things generally tided up. The pond has done well with a better than average winter with the filters only needed cleaning every three days. One fishes swim bladder has gone and it remains on it's side on the bottom, I've taken it out twice and scraped it with nothing found on the microscope. I may have to get a vet to try some antibiotics to see if that makes a difference.

Any way the point of the post/thread, as sturgeon feed all year around I've been throwing out some food everyday for them, we have 2 'Mr' and 'Mrs' Mr is a tart and comes up for the koi food, Mrs is a normal diamond sturgeon that stays near the bottom and eats sturgeon food.

I've been trying for 2 days to get a decent shot of him as he's put on a huge size now but with no luck so I took a video,

A couple of attempted shots, a patio slab is 58cm:

Thanks, that fish(the tancho) is the most expensive fish I've ever bought, it spent the first winter we had it at a mates heated pond as the winter was so harsh.

The pond is good, just blanket answered it due the weed, this is a pain because the nexus clogs but apart from that all is well.

does your pond freeze over in the winter???

It comes close to it around the edges but as I run the air through the bottom drain 365 days a year it stops it from freezing over completely.

nice sturgeon
how does he handle the summer? when i had sturgeon he died when as soon as it got hot

Well it doesn't get that hot, the most the pond has been up to is 18c in the last three years, the key to sturgeon is plenty of air, I run a 50 lpm air pump on the pond drain and another in the filtration. So theres is 100 liters of air going in every minute which keeps the oxygen levels up.
