have anybody have a pond upstairs about 250 gallons , have any problems

thanks

I looked at that in my house recently. Do you know which way your floor joists run?

Mine run north and south, this 220 gallon aquarium runs east/west, up against the wall where the joists rest on the foundation.

You want to spread the weight over as many floor joists as possible.

This could even involve building a small stand out of 4x4's to spread the weight out.

If you're really concerned, or you want the tank in the middle of a large span you could get one of these support poles

Just put a 4x8 or 4x10 up across the joists under your tank, with the pole holding it up.

I am in the process of building one around 500 gallons. I had 2x10 LVL laminate floor joists added along with the joists that were already there and had a structural engineer come out to ok it. If i were you i would hire a structural engineer to come out to take a look.

id go with a 150g max upstairs, i know a guy who had tanks running the length of his bedroom wall when he lived at home, after he left, his parents had a structural engineer in and there was a crack down the side of the extension.
