I'm thinking of using the 1.5 or 2.0 inch vinyl back flush hoses you find for pool filters to do quick water changes to my 300gal, I do not plan to use it to refill my tank. I plan to connect 1.5 or 2.0 inch PVC, this will be the only piece of equipment actually touching the water. I’m looking to do something similar to Boogers set up except I need a longer hose because I want the option to drain into the gutter or into the tub which is about 50 ft away from the tank. I plan to have ball joint valve where the PVC connects to the vinyl hose and connect the vinyl to the PVC with either glue or hose clamps. I see a few benefits with using the hose. Can find at any pool store, cheap about $30-$40 for 100ft of 2 inch, collapsible so easy to store, used for pools (pumps and filters) so the vinyl should be durable enough just for water changes (at least I think it would be). My questions are:

1. Does anyone see a problem with using back flush hoses for pools?
2. Should I be concerned that it is collapsible tube, vinyl, and walls are thinner than normal tubing used to drain aquariums?
3. Anything else I should be concerned or careful with regarding this plan?

I'm not 100% on what hose you are talking about but if it is used for pools I don't see why it wouldn't work

it would work just fine

Thanks guys for the replies, I actually bought a 45ft rool of pool vac hoseinstead and will be attaching it some PVC so I can hang it on the side of the tank. I was worried if the backflush hose was filled with draining water the puppy might decide to bite at it or step on it (90lb puppy can do damage to vinyl, already did some remodeling on the carpet edges). Do you guys/gurls have any idea what type of plasitc material the white ends of the pool vac hoses are made of? I was going to use PVC Cement to attach it to the PVC fittings and wasn't sure the white ends of the vacs are PVC. Thanks again.
