I'm thinking of using the 1.5 or 2.0 inch vinyl back flush hoses you find for pool filters to do quick water changes to my 300gal, I do not plan to use it to refill my tank. I plan to connect 1.5 or 2.0 inch PVC, this will be the only piece of equipment actually touching the water. Im looking to do something similar to Boogers set up except I need a longer hose because I want the option to drain into the gutter or into the tub which is about 50 ft away from the tank. I plan to have ball joint valve where the PVC connects to the vinyl hose and connect the vinyl to the PVC with either glue or hose clamps. I see a few benefits with using the hose. Can find at any pool store, cheap about $30-$40 for 100ft of 2 inch, collapsible so easy to store, used for pools (pumps and filters) so the vinyl should be durable enough just for water changes (at least I think it would be). My questions are:
1. Does anyone see a problem with using back flush hoses for pools?
2. Should I be concerned that it is collapsible tube, vinyl, and walls are thinner than normal tubing used to drain aquariums?
3. Anything else I should be concerned or careful with regarding this plan?
