pool bottom for pond liner?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Many of the pool liners contain mildew suppressants that are hard on fish.

anyone ever cut the bottom out of one of these pools for a pond liner?
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4634029

should work and last a long time right?
im making a stacked timbers pond.
:D

It will work just fine. The liners get stiff and crack after a couple of years from the chlorine in the regular water, de-chloring gets rid of that part of the problem.

Several people on here are using the pool as is for an indoor pond.

Sorry midnight I just realized it was you...

Is this for above or below ground?

Seems a shame to cut it up, how about a multisided (8-12) wall (above ground) and just set the whole pool in there.

Keep us posted.

Right now you can find above ground pools (used) for free. Check your area for freecycle.com, You 'll even find tanks occasionally too (oh, I shouldn't have told you my secret).

As far as the pool goes... Did it, my 6yr old grandson still can't get that one (I think he just wants to swim in the pool :D ).

pond liners look ugly
especially in the corners
i sealed my tank with CIM
it's kinda like pool paint but it's more durable
