Pool filter sand and polys

I'm wondering if the polys will ingest some sand when they eat. Does this happen? Mine are already biting large rocks when they smell food.

Yes it happens its the main reason I recomend sand over gravel as a substrate.Sand can pass thru the digestive tract with little or no problem
ingesting gravel if they can't reguritate it can lead to choking, and internal blockages leading to death-Anne
