Pool Filter Sand Quality

Is number 20 a good quality pool filter sand? Thanks in advance!

i dont think it matters i use pool filter sand on one of my tanks..i might be wrong..

my fish love it
just really dirty and needs extra cleaning
but in the end really good

Bigger means heavier so there's less cleaning and it settles faster in the tank and has a different look (grainier).

Good advice. Thank you dj, dr, and bsi. An old friend might have some filter pool sand around; hopefully he will come through.

Last question: what has been most effective when cleaning sand before submerging?

I just run water through the sand in 5 gal buckets stirring it til the water is clear. Then it still has to settle a lil when in the tank.
