Pool filter sand.

Im adding brand new sand to my tank today and I'm wanting to know whats the best way to wash this stuff before adding it to the tank that will have water in it all ready.

My pool filter sand was fairly clean.. depending upon on much you have. i used a bucket and poured the silt off..Then poured the clean sand into a pvc pipe so it went right to the bottom.

Garden hose and 5 gallon buckets.

1. Put some sand in the bucket
2. stuff the garden hose all the way to the bottom
3. agitate the sand with your hand
4. keep rinsing until water is clear and the remaining sand in the bucket seems to settle quickly.
5. repeat as needed.

The same process works just fine in the bath tub too...

1. Put some sand in the pillow case
2. stuff the water faucet in the pillow case
3. agitate the sand with your hand
4. keep rinsing until water is clear and the remaining sand in the pillow case seems to be clean.
5. repeat as needed.

edit it just a little for bath tub use.
