I got 4 50 lbs bags from Leslies...silica sand. I wonder in general how clean they are...My tank has very small openings and taller than me...The prospect of hauling bucketful of wet sand and dumping them in a tank which my finger can not reach the bottom 6 inches is pretty daunting. I wonder if I can skip rinsing...

I got the same sand a few months ago... I rinsed mine about three times before putting it in. I hear you on hauling wet sand, but you're either going to be hauling wet sand or doing some large water changes. I'd guess play sand is dirtier, but this stuff isn't clean.

I decided to rinse mine AFTER putting it into my empty tank. Had to take it all out, rinse and put back. A Lot of effort I could've avoided, but after filling it up, the tank was quite clear. Very much worth the effort. Great looking sand IMO...

I just kill the filters, dump in the sand and wait about an hour before I turn the filters back on. Worked fine for me.

I say rinse it, aside from the initial major cloudiness, if you dont rinse itll cloud up a LOT more any time a fish stirs it up.
Also, all that dust WILL be somewhere in the aquarium whether settled or in the filters, and there is a LOT that comes out when you rinse it.
IMO rinsing is always definitely worth it

The setup is about 6 foot tall, the tank is 30 inches deep and worse is that the 4 openings are 17 inches by 8 inches...What is the best way to get wet sand in and spread them evenly without say cause scratches on the wall(not too concerned about the bottom)...

Home depot buckets for the win. Put as much sand per load as u can handle, which may not be much but I think youll be happier in the long run if u rinse it. Or get something tall next to the tank to put the bucket on then use a fairly big cup to scoop the sand in to make it a little easier... That way u don't have to worry about scratches

Use a bucket and something to scoop it with. It'll take some tome, but it'll be worth it.
