I use Pentair Rainbow RTL-25 spa filters for mechanical filtration on my 300 gallon tank. I really like them.
Like them so much, I'm going with six RTL-100s on my large tank
Others have used RTL-like filters for mechanical filtration. Here's an incredible reef setup with an RTL-like filter:

the filter would be great but the motor/pump would be to loud for indoors....maybe change the motor/pump and it would be great....expensive, but great.
