To move things a little quicker in my DIY build I will be painting the background instead of building one. What paint would you recommend using on the inside of a tank which is fish safe?

I'm not sure about which paint to use. It could flake, peel, or poison the tank. If you want to paint. How about painting the exterior of the glass so you could see it? If it chips or peels then scrape it off. A lot easier than removing fish and water to scrape inside

I used acrylic paint for my 3D background. Just make sure it's non-toxic.
I've also heard Krylon Fusion is good but don't use it on foam, will turn it to mush I've heard.

I never used Krylon, just read that people have used with no issues. Make sure to do your own research.
I can however vouch for acrylic paint as I used it on my background that's now in with rather sensitive fish. It should say non-toxic on it.
