I have a couple of pool pumps left over.(1hp) I was wondering if I ran lots of water through it could I eventually use it to run a tank and if so how would I go about it? Thinking about a 900 gallon pond

odds are it's a lubricated pump, so it's up to you if you want to take the chance of lubricating your fish if it blows.

Pool pumps are high in amps which will cost you $$$$ to run 24/7. For a 900g pond you can get by with a 1/16HP or 1/15HP (1.3amp) pump. 1 HP (10amp +) is overkill.
