Ok i was just woundering is anyone has tryed this and is it works , i am thinking of using a pool sand filter after my pumps but replaceing the sand with reef sand this is not my only filter i have a 200 gal sump with a 50 gal fuge in it feeding to 2 3hp pumps ! What are you thoughts on using a pool sand filter for a saltwater tank ?

hmmm not sure how the filter would last with saltwater in it since there designed for pools there connections and o-rings may deteriorate, might have metal in it to that will rust would really consider a different route.

some people with big shark and ray setups use large pool filters, when I talked to Aquarium of the Pacific they recomended that I use one but I'm sticking with my sump.
I am Currently using 2 8000GPH Hayward Sand Pumps using PFS. Only been running for a week but All is ok now. In talking with hayward they assured me that all of their Internal parts are 304 ss and using this in salt water would not void warranty
