I'm home real quick before happy hour ends.

I just got 3 little figure 8 puffers from PET CO...

Cause they where nasty and emaciated and dying.

Now, they have EXTREMELY suckin in stomachs.

They are in Freshwater.

How can I tell if it's internal paracites, and not being fed properly?

I just fed them bloodworms and they ATE like champs. :)

My last ones , I'm pretty sure, had IPs and it was awful.

I'll take a pic later.

**also any info on converting fresh to brackish would be greatly appreciated.

You can tell if its internal parasites by looking at the feces and the anal area (look for white/transparent stringy stuff). And by feeding them heavily for the next few weeks, and seeing if they fatten up or not too.

Converting to brackish: Buy the marine salt (NOT aquarium salt-- needs to be MARINE salt), but a salinity indicator, and raise the salt content by 5 units (i forget what the units are, but they go by 1,2,3,4,5,... to about 50 or so) every week or so, until you reach 20-25 units. Its not necessary to go over that.

You do realize that by buying those puffers, you're just encouraging PetCo to buy more new puffers to emaciate for the next suckers to come along and mercy-buy them.

I have to. It's a ....

I knew more thern therir manager,

It's aCOMP thing.

And I have marine salt and a hydrometer.

I just wanna know how to slowing acclimate them..So I slowly add slat to thier tank then whatever,..or what

P45 does'nt make things easy.

You add a little salt. You stir up the water to mix it. You test the salinity. You add more salt until it raises 5 points or so. Voila.

I'll spend the next 6 hours of my time devising a method by which you can use exact measurements with a hydrometer in an easy-to-read step-by-step tutorial.

Bring your salinity up to 1.007 or so, then wait, then bring it to 1.012, then wait, then up to 1.017, then you should be ok. Wait 8- 12 hours between adjustments
