So i bought a pink tailed chalceus this morning, it's about 4". It seemed fine at first, just chilling in the upper reaches of my tank minding its own business and getting used to its new home. My 7" RTGG ignored it at first but then started having a go at it. Its tail is a bit feathered now and it's missing the odd scale near its tail. So i took it out and put it in my small community tank. I'll keep it there for a couple of weeks until i rehouse my RTGG (she's got a tank of her own being delivered soon). Question is, is there any treatment i need to add to my small community tank to help with the healing of the tail and missing scales of my chalceus or will it be ok with just time and no one bullying it.

Pimafix and Melafix to make sure the tail is fine and it doesn't get a bacterial infection.

Years ago I tried to add a second pink tail to my. 135. The large one ate its entire tail and I came home to him huddled on the bottom. I plopped him into my 100 and didn't do anything else. He healed up fine. Clean clean water and reduced stress should see him bounce back

Cheers guys. He's already cheered up, just fed him a little worm out of the garden, he loved it. Just to be safe i'll get some medicine tomorrow, that coupled with less stress and time and hopefully his tailfin and scales will grow back. I'm glad he won't be in there long, he's already taken a shine to my danios and tetras! As soon as the RTGG is in her new home he'll be going back in the 200g.

You can get meds to be sure. I'd recommend clean water and a bit of salt. He should be just fine.
