***Long story short, i think i have parasites from new fish and im worried that my bichirs can get them as well.***
Hi! I finally got my Green Terror 2 days ago from reputable shop here in uk. So i chucked him in my main tank with my bichirs. I also got 4 extra tiger barbs to my group of 6. Bad things happened and i am left with fluorescent green water from general tonic, 10 dead barbs and poorly (recovered alot from yesterday) GT. Here is a timeline/log of events that happened between 5pm on Monday and now:
1. Monday - Scheduled 20% water change. A 0, n 0, n ~5
2. Acclimated the new arrivals for 40min adding lil bits of water every 5mins
3. Everyone was looking healthy and eager to swim in their new home. Introduced the fish withough adding any water from their bags.
4. 4 new barbs have been gasping for 2 hours and old barbs are keeping well away from them.
5. 8pm All barbs are now in a group as green terror is chasing them around
6. 10pm all 4 new barbs are showing white fluff all over their bodies, GT has white stripes on his fins.
7. Old barbs are getting away from the new barbs, old ones are at the bottom and new ones are at the top. GT seems to go to rest mode now.
8. Tuesday - 9am new barbs are dead, old barbs now have white fluff on their mouths and around fins, GT is at the bottom, not moving, hardly breathing, cloudy eyes with white spot and fluff coming out of that spot.
9. I have done extra water change as my ammonia jumped to 0.25
10. 10am have added 'Tetra General Tonic'. One of the Bichirs ate one old barb
11. 6pm by now all the barbs are dead, GT isn't still and bichirs are acting normal
12. Today 9am - another water change just in case. Green terror is recovering, moving around, eating (takes big gulps of sand and spits out most food, not brave enough to go for floating pellets) , but i have noticed that he has sunken belly, and someone told me he looks really malnourished, GT is also rubbing his gills agains sand every now and then.
13. 9pm GTs second poop is white/clear but not 'stringy'. First poop, after few hours of introduction was normal.
What i am afraid of is that if it is in fact internal parasite i don't want that to move to my Senegal bichirs. I don't have a spare tank to use as a QT, so any treatment will have to be safe for the bichirs, plants and my bio media.
The tank is 65 gal(250l)and has been running for a month with filter from old tank, so it is fully cycled. 3 bichirs are only 3,4,5 inch. The GT is around 4-5inch.
Any ideas on what I should do?
