I just noticed one of my severums is developing pop eye. I do weekly 50% water changes and vacuum the gravel every week. I don't put any additives in the well water when I do the water changes. What is the most effective treatment for this condition?

Pop eye is a result of poor water quality. Your 50% weekly w/c's should keep your water pretty clean. But did you test your parameters just in case??

I believe that it can also be from other causes such as infection; I had a case of it with an injured eye on a puffer.

I read that the use of Magnesium sulfate (epsom salt) will reduce the swelling. Google for dosage if you go that way, but I think that it was 1 tablespoon per gallon.

But you will still need to find the actual cause.
