I am 99% sure one of my flagfish in the outside pond has popeye. His left eye is practically bursting. How do I treat it? I can’t get a picture because they are to skidish. I saw him because I moved the water lettuce, and saw him for a few seconds.

Remove from pond and into qt tank. Maracyn2 and epsom salt, 1 tbsp per 5g. Place back in pond once better.

I don’t have any other tanks besides a 2.5g. Would that be ok for treatment? The pond doesn’t have a heater, and the temperature would fluctuate, right?
2.5g is fine but you need to change water partly everyday if it won’t have a cycled filter. A plastic storage tote or 5 gallon plastic cooler would also work. Temp won’t fluctuate much in your house or the garage so a heater isn’t necessary.

He is in a little 2.5g tank. He is only an inch and a half. There are anacharis, water lettuce, and algae in there. When you put him in there, you can really see the beauty of this guy. There are pebbles from his pond in there.

Got Maracyn. Sam from Aquarium Fish Depot said this:

”Maracyn2 is on hold. You can not buy it because of some chemical”

dosed with maracyn and epsom salt. You think I could put him in my other pond (not set up), and still use it later on?

Maracyn treats gram positive bacteria and doesn't have the same pathogenic bacteria coverage that Maracyn2 has. So if you don’t see any improvement within a week, you’ll know it wasn’t gram positive bacteria that caused the popeye.

if you don’t find Maracyn2, you go for a gram negative antibiotic like Seachem Kanaplex or Triple Sulfa
