Sooooo, my stubborn porcelain crab WILL NOT come out of the hole he found in some of my LR. Anybody had any experience with this? I havent seen him in probably a good month unless i pick up the rock and look in his hole. Is there anyway that I can lure him out? I know that some are shy and some arent. I guess maybe I just got a shy one. Kinda sucks... he is a good looking crab. I guess i shouldnt complain, considering I got him for free because he was hiding in the piece of LR and my LFS owner didnt see him lol. She wasnt to happy when I told her.

I've found that often once a fish/crab/assorted other invert finds a "home" they will not leave it. More specifically, Porcelin crabs, there are two verieties... ones that host anemones... and ones that hide in rocks/caves. SO if you have the hiding kind, your screwed, if you have the anemone kind... your screwed... unless you get a nem, because they like to be "safe" and being in a nem is "safe". You mite get them out during feedings... but other then that I'd be surprized to see it out and about for much more then that.
Would he get along with an emerald crab if I got one? I look in the tank every time my daughter wakes up at night to see if I can catch him out but I never see him.
my crabs are hit or miss. sometimes they come out sometimes they don't. when they do they trip me out....walking the sand under the moonlight leds with their claws up in the air (paranoid my niger trigger is gonna swoop in from above) lol

I have 3 damsels. 2 blue's, 1 yellowtail. I had a four stripe in there but he died earlier tonight but he has been acting weird since I added him last weekend. I also have a cleaner shrimp, lawnmower blenny and 10 hermit crabs.

Ihavent gotten one yet, Ive been working on turning it into a reef. I bought some duncans, zoas, buttons and a couple trumpets. Im gonna grab a large kenya tree from my LFS this week too.
I have both a Porcelain crab and an Emerald Crab together in my 55 without any issues at all. Noticed the two were together on the center set of rocks the other day, picking away at the algae. It shouldn't be a problem.
