I am designing a main tank that I wanted to put in a puffer and two triggerfish, and there is a lot of diffrence in opinion on the size the puffer will grow to and the size tank they need. My main question was what size is your porcupine puffer, and what size tank do you have them in? I know the larger the better but what would be a sufficent enough to keep them happy and not have to upgrade later?

What kind of triggers?

id say 100 gallon. I would not suggest going below 75 gallon, with only the puffer. Considering you want 2 triggers and a porcupine puffer, then 100-180 would be sufficient.

I disagree. 100 is the minimum tank size recommended just for the puffer. If you want to add more fish, you'd need at least a 180+g. Some triggers can be quite violant & grow large, so The puffer may become too shy to eat.

sorry FMI.. 100 gallon would be what dimensions?
5'x2'x1.5' ?

never actually seen a 100 gallon...

That's just an estimate. I believe there are 90, then 110, 120 & 125g.

wll the dims on all those are different..
i've read porcs get between 24 and 40'' wouldn't any of those NOT be enough?

It depends on which diodon species you get.
Ths smaller (more commonly kept ) species is the: Diodon holocanthus

The one that grows to 36-40" is the Diodon hystrix. I can't seem to find a good link for that one. Minimum tank sixe for that tank is the ocean!
