HI guys,

Looking for some first hand advice here.
In the process of purchasing and setting up a new eheim 2260 and I'm trying to sort out all the media beforehand.
I'll be looking to add some of the swiss tropicals poret foam in there in the 10ppi, 20ppi and 30ppi range.

First question for those who own this type of filter is what is the internal diameter of those filters?
Because I'll be pre ordering online I need to know what dimensions I can get away with.
They come in 13''x13'' or 19'' x 19''. Would I get away with the 13'' or would I be safer to get the larger 19'' and then cut it to suit?

Also because of the three different foams I am planning setting it up after my bio mech as 2'' 10ppi, 1.5'' 20ppi and lastly 1'' 30ppi. Does that sound good or should I stick with a certain thickness all throughout?
After the foam I do plan on adding poly fil followed by my biomedia hence thinking I may not need the extra thickness.
Let me know your thoughts thanks guys!

I run my 2260's with 10ppi mat in the bottom then a layer of polyfill and after that 20L of bioballs in a meshbag. It works great for my tanks. I then use a spongecube on the inletpipe in the tank wich i clean every two weeks.

I run 3 of the 2260/62 series filters and use Poret foam in each of them.

The inside of the canister body is slightly tapered so at the bottom it's 11.25" and at the top it's 11.625". I bought the 13" x 13" Poret foam and it worked perfectly, save the scrap leftovers to add to the filter or use for other projects. I made a cardboard template that is 11.75" diameter to cut the foam so it's snug fitting in the filter and it works perfectly.

I don't use the 30PPI at all as it will plug up quicker but that is completely up to you.

This is how I stack the media in the filter from the bottom to the top:
- Bottom lattice screen
- 5L of EhfiMech (tube shape)
- one 2" thick 10 PPI,
- one 2" thick 20 PPI,
- either some Polyfil traditional batting in a double layer or another similar product that is discarded as it's cheap to replace,
- 5L of Eheim Substrat Pro or similar bio-media in a lingerie mesh bag, I use the large 15" x 18" Tide brand with the plastic zipper.
- Top lattice screen

I use the same 2" thickness Poret in the filters but it's up to you to figure what you want to use. More foam layers reduces the amount of space for bio-media but will still work just fine. Everyone sets them up a bit differently depending on what other media they decide to use and how much of that other media they use.

One thing to avoid is having so much media that you need to forcefully compress what you add so that you can close the filter. It is possible to break either the plastic lattice legs or the lattice itself so don't cram too much material in the filter.

Hope this helps.
