I have a bunch of very porous Sandstone and was wondering if I could stick that in my tank WITH the live rock, and possibly have the bacteria and other organisms colonize on the sandstone, or will they only grow on rocks from say their natural habitats?

Ah, I didn't even think about that, Sed rocks are probably a bad choice. I do have other porous rocks, some metamorphic/mafics that would hold together, do you think they would work? Or should I not even try this?

Check craigslist man find some cheap live rock someone is always taking down a tank. If it is really covered in algae then scrub it in a tub of saltwater with a toothbrush. I do it regardless and check and see what little monsters may be lurking in it. lol

hey i got some sandstoone thats been in my tank for a year now its all i uused to have in my 55g check out some of my older albums for pics... it looks real cool when it gets coraline all over it.
