My port acaras decided to pair off while in my large cichlid tank. They laid some eggs which quickly got eaten by my large bristlenose so I put them in another tank I had.
They laid eggs again within a few hours but by the next day they were gone, I just thought nothing of it.. Well now 5 weeks later and they are on their 5th batch of eggs. They lay once a week and the next morning they are all gone.
I have never seen such a persistant couple, I also didn't know the fish could lay eggs with such frequency. Last night was the latest batch and this morning for the first time there are still some eggs left. A few whites ones and about 30% of the batch.

Fingers crossed they have got the hang of it now. :nilly:

my ports do the same thing i get a new batch every week the fry start to swim and then they end up in the tankmates mouth . am thinking of sticking them in an empty 10 gallon but i feel it way to small for them.

My eggs only last a day so i don't even get fry. They are in their own tank so there is nothing but the parents to end the fun.

I think they are just practicing, only time will tell. I just don't want the female exhausting herself.

No i've not seen then liplock at all. The male did with a blue acara when he was in another tank. All I see is sometimes is the female will nudge the male in the side but that's it.
