Port Cichlids......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I purchased a "Port" and it turned out to be a Cichlasoma bimaculatum. The fish grew into an 8" monster that I kept with Central Americans.

True Cichlasoma portalegrensis are hard to come by. If I can find a nice group of young fish, I would get them myself.

I dont know the difference, but i was given a "Port" Cichlid a few years back, the fish was a brownish color, with very long finnage, this fish was no wimp either,he battled with my O's,Dempseys and Convicts all the time!!!They are related to the Acara i believe.

i've got one of these, not sure if it's a port cichlid or not

I have had one for the past couple years and I love that fish! He is one of my favorites. He is a mean guy. He attacks the algea scraper all the time and is deffinatly no wuss. He has VERY long beautuiful finnage and I just love it. He is about 6" and thinks he is about 2'. Mine was a wild caught specimen and I think that might help with the color a bit but he also has some yellow on him.
