Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows a Port Jackson Shark needs a chiller? And secondly would one of these species get along with a small Stingray in a 6x3x3? Thanks Mickandmel

I've had a PJ for a few years as well as other hornsharks and temperature never was an issue.I kept the temps at 78 in the cooler months and in the summer I did not use the heaters due to my basement temp at around 78 degrees.I can't say for sure about the ray but mine never bothered anything that it could not eat.

I suggest going to the shark section in the SW subforum here on MFK. There are several experts that should be able to give you lots of advice. Also there are some sticky posts there that are a must read.

Mick I noticed that your location is Queensland and I was wondering if you planned to collect or purchase your Port Jacksons?

Sorry to derail, but are they even legal to keep in Australia? i only ask coz it seems a lot of fish are banned from the hobby over there..

Good question but I thought most of the fish that were illegal to keep were freshwater fish due to fears of the fish doing harm to their ecosytems in Australia. The PJ is a native Australian fish but I'm not sure if there are any restrictions on it being kept there.

Yeah, i just wasn't sure what the laws are like over there any more... although i do remember my sister telling me (about 8 years ago) one of her friends in Sydney had a shark tank, so maybe sharks aren't illegal to keep?
