I have a lot of tanks. 480,270,240,135,120,110,100,and 20 gals. I've seen shops that have a portable high flow filter set up. They hang it over the top of the tank they want to clean up and let it go for a while. I feed as much pellets as I can. What doesn't get eaten really messes up the water. Most of it can be siphoned up from the gravel. This is getting to be a pain in the a--. I'd like to short cut some of this work. Can one of you guys tell me about portable cleaning systems? I need commercial grade stuff.

Thanks, cigar larry

You could get an Eheim "sludge extractor"- basically a battery powered gravel vac. These are nice since you don't have to lug a bucket of poop water around from tank to tank. Infinite Aquatics has them for less than retail, shipped.

Marineland/Magnum makes an add-on kit for the Magnum H.O.T. caninster. It's basically a gravel vac attachment that replaces the intake tube. This is nice because, again, no poop water to carry. Also, the HOT canister is pretty portable and has an on/off button, which practically no canisters have. HOT canisters are ~ $50 online (petsmart.com) and the vac attachment is $10.

Lol. It's funny how the big guns' idea of commercial differs from mine. Now that I've seen their suggestions, I've got to make something similar for myself!

add 2 ocean clears to this would be good one reg mech and a pleated one... then just return the water to the tank...

also feed smaller amounts....

Like a smaller version of what we used at the hatchery to quickly drain ponds. Ours was gas and a PITA to move. That thing moves water lol
