Has anyone ever had one of these before? Just picked one up and had not seen them before. Looking for any input on them. It seems they grow to around 20" or so. Anyone have a bigger one? Look forward to hearing about them.

Thanks! I will update its progress. For now it is just hanging by some driftwood. Would look awesome with a small tiger shovelnose.

Porthole. Huh. That's the first time I've seen one cool. You know I love monster fish but it is nice too find a catfish like that. If it tops out at 20 inches then it can be a keeper. For as long as you want it. NICE.

I have seen it called a spotted shovelnose catfish as well.

I looked up the sturgeon catfish and at first I thought maybe it was, but then it looks like they all have an overbite like a lima shovelnose. My cat has an underbite more like a flathead catfish. I'm still thinking porthole.

Gotta love catfish!

It's not a sturgeon catfish. I too am in agreement with TBTB and yes I have heard it called the porthole many times as well. :)
