i have my filter pushing out water one way.. and my powerhead on the opposite side, so therefore i have thempushin towards each other like so ---> <---. is that ok? should it be only pushed in one direction? does it really matter? the tank is stocked with pbass and tarpon.

thanks

It really doesn't matter if they are river or estuarine species, my fish love the current. What do you have?

I have a circular flow going on mine, it forces all the waste to get pushed to one side of the tank. My overflow intake is on that end, so it removes most of it when it gets kicked up.

Dont really think it matters a whole lot, with my RBPiranha I move the powerhead every w/c seeem to keep them more active, my Dicus are in very little current. I think as long as your not blowing debree away from your filter intake, It is a matter of preference and what works best for you.

I would direct your powerhead towards your filter, but I would have your filter flow in the same direction, so it creates a circular flow.....:nilly:

:iagree: , you can't depend on the fish to keep the water circulating in the corners, and your still creating a Hi & low current for the fish.

If you have the powerheads pushing into each other on a smaller tank, it would create confused water flow. Your fish would have a hard time getting out of the current if they wanted and wouldn't allow them to swim into the current for excercise.

I'd use some food coloring and check for dead spots. Then redirect to eliminate the dead spots. Every time you stick something in the gravel you've created another obstacle to the flow. Depending on the size of the tank you may have to add an additional powerhead. Dan
