Looks like an NGT to me going by the charts, but I'm not all that 'up' on my dats (only have 1 myself, that being a 5" NTT). My bro in law is guessing that it's a pulcher or an oddball widebar of some sort.

Any positive ID off you guys would be great - he'd love to get a few more.

See pic below. Info: bought about six weeks ago. It was being kept in a brackish tank in the shop but he just plonked it in his freshwater tank as he would any other fish (approx 1/2 hr acclimatisation) and it's been fine and dandy no problems so far. Size is about 2.5 inches.

Cheers...

looks like NGT to me.

anyone out there think it's NOT an NGT? My bro-in-law has seen a few NGT's in the shops and they do look different, which is what makes him think it is an oddball wide-bar of some sort.

I also thought NGT's need brakish water, so the fact that he was able to effectively just 'plonk' it into his freshwater tank after just 1/2hr of the bag floating in his tank is what's casting the doubt.

What are the visual characteristics of an NGT other than the blotchy wide bands? The head looks very dark to me, but again like I said I'm not very experienced with dats so if you guys are sure it's an NGT then great... :)

ya, NGT all the way and they do fine in freshwater

100% NGT. They are found in fresh and brackish conditions in the wild. They will do great in either.
