yep. pumpkin seed.

Yeah I would say pumpkin seed too.

It is one of the more docile sunfish to keep. I believe it is somewhere in the middle, not aggressive as dollar/longear/green sunfish/bluegills, not as calm as orange/blue spotted sunfish and warmouth and rock bass.
You should be able to get him on freeze dried anything (krill, worms, shrimp, etc), frozen anything (worms, shrimp), carnivore pellets (floating and sinking), and of course live worms and small feeders.
That temperature range should be fine. My tanks are maintaining 70F degrees most of the day.

It does look like a pumpkinseed, although they often stay small they can get suprisingly large if kept well fed in a largish tank, (14" or so), the temp. is great and they eat pretty much anything, love crickets and mealworms. They like a fine gravel and plants for cover.

ty for your replies

hes doing great on worms

and im gonna pick up a few rosie reds for an every now and then treats

hes extremely skittish, and very lively after 2 days

theres kind of a story as to how i got him.

i rode my bike to the pond, and i have a net attached to my bike for "emergency urges" and saw this lil guy in the algea by the inflow pipe, he had just his tail sticking out, and i netted him and a buddy

i cut the top off a small water bottle, and put him in, he was so cramped he had to face nose down the whole 10 min ride home ( i shouldnt have taken him, but he was so wonderful looking) he lost most his water on the ride, and when i got him home, i set up a tank, and put him in, he was not moving and laying on the bottom, so i let him be for a while in the tarp pond (see video) but now he is doing great and i will get better pics soon, and his water is all cleared up now

i plan on getting him a buddy soon, but not til he gets a bigger tank
