I'd recently removed all occupants from my Banjo tank, except for the algae Shrimp. There's currently 8 Banjo's in my tank (The 2 eel-tailed Banjo's I had are gone). 2 adults (5" and 5 1/2"), 2 almost adults (4-4 1/2") and 4 juveniles (2 1/2" - 3"). Relocated the tank and dropped the temp by a few degrees upon putting the Banjo's back, as well made the tank a lot less congested with Plants and such. Been seeing more of the Banjo's lately in this new layout. My Adult Female was very plump when I seen her recently. Well the other night I noticed a hole/indent at the back of the Madagascar Lace Leaf with the 2 Adults laying there (Male and Female) half obscured at lights out. The next day I noticed just the male there when I left for work but didn't have time to look closely .... wish I had.

Later that day after work I noticed the Male in another spot, but some of my algae shrimp (Amano?) had what looked like tiny little reddish/pink eggs in their Pleopods. Couldn't get a good picture (only had my tablet handy). But can't think of anything else they could be other than my Banjo's eggs. (Any ideas?)

From what I understand Shrimp won't eat fertile eggs (am I wrong?)

A few pics (as I said only had my tablet ... sorry)

My attempt at taking a pic of a Shrimp with what I'm guessing are my Banjo's eggs

20141210_185718_zps36fd6888.jpg

They were tiny little balls like eggs, at least 3 or 4 of the shrimp were loaded like this. And a Banjo can lay a lot of eggs from what I've read.

I understand they're extremely difficult to breed and I've no real ambitions to breed them ... but, if they want to I'd like to help them out.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated please and thank you.

Idk if they bred, but shrimp don't really store food in their pleopods. However, that is where they store their own eggs. I would imagine that those are shrimp eggs. If so, they should get darker over time.

okay thanks ... would help if I even knew what Banjo egg's looked like. But the male and female are spending a lot of more time together since the change.
