I have a chance to pick up (4) 2 inch festae and was hoping to get a breading pair. The supplier can not verify if they are from the same parents, since they are the same size I think they are. Would anyone here do this? I would like to introduce any fish I get at the same time so they would grow and get used to each other. It seems like fesate are hard to find especially from multiple suppliers at the same time.

They're almost certainly from the same parents. Inbreds sometimes will turn out fine but if the your fry's parents are also inbred, then I imagine you start to go downhill. Still though, buy all four of them because they might not all survive. Of the six I bought from Rapps, they killed each other off until I only had one female. If they do survive, keep the best of the bunch and you can always find it a mate.

Ya kinda of what I was thinking. He is a good supplier so I trust his are a quality fish but you never know. I will ask before I purchase. You could save me the trouble and send me the ones in your avatar.

Lol no thanx, I was PM'd an offer for $600.00 for the pair and turned it down. I'm way too attached to them. I bred the male myself, now going on 13", and the female was a rescue saved from the brink of death and nursed back perfection. :D

Who are you getting yours from?

Agreed - it can take several broods to get a successful breeding pair to stick and stay so why not start now.

You probably make close to that selling fry. Hold on to them, Balton...until you get sick of them. Then you can ship them to me for free:).

OP, buy the juvenile Festae while they are available. When more become available from another stock buy about six of those. They usually grow pretty slow so you should have plenty of time to buy more before the others get too big.
