Since I have the Tiger Oscar, pleco, and Jack Dempsey in the tank.Is it possible to fit just one more fish into the 55 gallon,I am thinking,if I did this,in the near future,I was going to shop for a 100 gallon or above(just a estimate).I was looking at Green Terrors.Oh before anyone saids anything about my 55 gallon being too small,I do have a extra spare 30 gallon outside, that isn't being used. This is just a thought, not a 100% sure at the moment. :)

How big are your fish. the oscar alone should not be in the 55 because of the footprint. I hope they are all small fish right now. I would hold off buying more fish until you get the larger tank. Safer that way.

My oscar is 6 inchs,I don't know,my brother has two albino oscars in his tank, they seem fine, his are 2 or 3 inchs smaller then mine though.I thought the requirements though for a Oscar is 55 gallons or above?,I know what you mean though on a bigger tank, that would be something I like to invest in for the future for at least 150 gallon or above..Reason I went with the 55 gallon, cause Wal Mart messed up the pricing big time,it was a steal lol

Just do some thinking here. Oscars get on average around a foot. A 55 is a foot wide. It can fit, yes, but you can also fit in a bathroom and live there the rest of your life.

So yes, an oscar can fit in a 55, but probably shouldn't. I would hold off buying until you get the larger tank. It can be hard sometimes not buying, but sometimes you have to be responsible. I really want an ID shark right now, but I know I can't buy one due to the size it reaches :(

Oscars get bigger then a foot if there male

I say leave the Dempsey in the 55, Put the pleco and a Firemouth(smaller and more compatible with other fish than a Terror) in the 30, and upgrade the Oscar to the 100 and above tank.

I think an excellent piece of advice is "Buy the fish for the tank you have, not the tank you want to have".

Many people say they are going to get a bigger tank, get a bunch of fish that are going to get too big for their tank, and then when they start pricing out everything they need for the larger tank they cant afford it. So in the end they are stuck with a bunch of fish they cant properly home.

I'd say hold off on getting anymore fish. Green terrors are common and when you get the bigger tank, you will still be able to find them easily.

a Oscar should have 75g plus full grown mine is 14" long and he make a 150g look small if you keep a Oscar in a 55 thats all your gonna be able to keep in there he will even pick the pleco to death

Id get a Salvinni for the 30 gallon with a dwarf pike cichlid, and put some dithers like giant dianos. Then with the 55 gallon the JD and find a mate for it, or the other option is keep him with a couple of firemouths, upper jaw species of bichir, GT, or Cuban. Then go out buy at least a 125 Gallon(plenty on Craigslist) and put the oscar in there with either another oscar, vieja species, Chocolate, pike cichlid, any parachromis besides a dovii, or grammodes.
