Does anyone know if it's possible for Nitrate level to be too high for a cycle to continue? I'm dosing high levels of ammonia (5drops daily) in a 5 gallon bucket that already had a verified cycled hydrosponge 5 connected to airpump. I'm just wondering if there is a point of diminishing returns, in which the sponge filter will cycle no further (continue to matabolize new ammonia addition) due to nitrates being to high?
Currently ammonia is 8ppm or so, NO nitrITE, and Nitrates off the chart
****DISCLAIMER*** this project involves no fish/livestock of any kind, just an experiment for producing EXTREMELY strong colonies of bacteria in a sponge filter to be used in a new setup in a few months**** It's my "Dexter's Lab" of sorts....
