OK... so this morning the carpet in front of my tank is soaked. Unfortunately, water spilled on this carpet disappears into the underlay until you put weight on the carpet for a few seconds so it rises up. I can't seem to figure out where the leak is coming from - but the FX5 is the last thing I was messing with. Do these things leak? I suspect the drain valve at the bottom of it, but like I said, I have no real way to tell exactly where the water is dripping onto the carpet.

This is a DIY tank, so I'm pretty anxious to find the source of the water!

run your hand around the whole tank/fx5 till you find a wet spot....

Believe it or not, I managed to think of that.

The tank is a 200gal tank, set into a niche in the wall, and there is a large sump, along with the fx5 underneath the tank. I've disconnected and moved out the fx5, but the sump is pretty permanent. I could not locate any wet spots on the stand, or anywhere above the carpet, so it must be a straight drip from somewhere to the floor. Either one of the bottom seams on my acrylic sump is leaking, or the fx5. Just wondering if anyone else has had a leaky valve on their fx, or if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Canisters are prone to leaks. This sounds like a drip loop problem. Check all of your cords for moister...

Thanks, wasn't the canister. my sump sprung a leak.
