i was just checking out my oscar tonight and found what might be the start of hith.

first off he was a rescue, so he is def. at risk for hith
now he is housed in a 180 with very clean water, and he is fed well with kens food,

the mark is very small (about the size of his nare)

i have a few pix, the one with the flash on really bring it out,
he is over one foot in size

first a shot of him

then a few w/out the flash

now with the flash

this is new as i watch him all the time

its possible that this is a bite, there is a lot of aggresion in his tank, but it looks to clean.

if it is hith how should i treat him, it gonna be near impossible to get him out of this tank, i probably have a better chance of using a hook and line

can i treat this in the 180
is there any risk for my other fish

give me a hand please

Feed 1/2 the amount of food But, feed a vary of food and keep water clean.

If it is HITH, you will cure it with pristine water and a good diet. When I treated my rescue oscar I used salt and put the temp around 81 or 82. He is 10000x better now. Just make sure you keep your nitrates at 0. Also, pull the carbon from your filters. The fine dust has been know to cause HITH. I wouldn't bother with melafix.
